What kind and how much compression does a typical radio station apply to its
signal?

Sounds hear like it depends on the station.
hear a song on WFNX and it sound like crap, wbcn is much better.
I think it depends on the Mp3s quality though.
Why do you ask?

Just curious as to what goes into a good radio mix.
I would think that a good radio mix would be more dynamic..less compressed...more
open...etc...so that the extra compression at the radio station would bring
it back to where you wanted it to begin with...No?

Last radio station I was in (admittedly a few years back) they had some
Aphex piece of crap set on nuke. It sure nuked the tone and dynamics right
out IMO. And I like my pop mixes in 2 varieties: loud and louder, so take it
for what it's worth. So, I guess the answer would be "all of it" when asking
about pop radio compression? Rap is even worse I think. I'm sure Jazz and
other situations will differ though.
