For any of you who are fans of Texas songwriting (i.e. Townes Van Zandt,
Billy Joe Shaver, Jerry Jeff Walker, etc.), Guy Clark (Homegrown Tomatoes,
Heartbroke) has a new CD on Dualtone. This is the 3rd album I've worked on
with Guy, and the first one that I mixed in Paris. It's a strong collection
of songs, and has some great playing on it from Verlon Thompson, Shawn Camp,
Bryn Bright, Jamie Hartford, Eddie Beyers, and Kevin Grantt (the Mighty
"Swine"). Heck, I even got to play some violin & viola on few tracks. The
CD is already out in Australia & Europe, and is available on iTunes, and the
U.S. release date is Sept. 19th.
As is my usual MO, we tracked it into RADAR 24, then edited & mixed it in
Paris. All of Guy's vocals are live performances with NO tuning. Three of
the tracks are demos that we recorded over the past couple of years, that
held up well enough to be thrown in with the new material that was cut for
this record.
If you have a chance, check him out. Guy is a one-of-a-kind talent &
songwriter.

Hi there..Guy is a "national treasure" for sure.I saw him at the
"Merlefest"..great music.. PARIS does still have the ability to sound very
good and visually, it's just like a regular mixer. Keep it simple. Use stuff
that you can flow easily with..I have never owned a Mac,but sometimes wish I
had started on one. cheers, z

Huge Guy fan here, will get it for sure.
That is at least the 2nd Dualtone release mixed
in Paris--I did the latest Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
record on Paris for Dualtone also a while back...

Yeah, one of the staff guys over at Quad is a Paris user... his name escapes
me right now. I sat at that Sphere a couple of times, it was very similar
to the one I had at EMI when I took over the studio job. Man, that thing
was a boat anchor. Well, holler if your up this way again. I'm at EMI,
9-5:30, M-F (615)742-8081. I'll track down that NGDB and give'r a good
listen.
