So I go to open PARIS and get an error occured while reading
default project.A new empty project will be created. There are not
enough free resources. Then I get an unhandled exception error and
have to restart the comp.

I'm getting this after taking out an EDS card and putting an EMU
0404 card in its spot.

Heres what I've got in the comp:

PCI 1 UAD-1 IRQ 18
PCI 2 EMU 0404 IRQ 21
PCI 3 EDS IRQ 22
PCI 4 EDS IRQ 16
PCI 5 EDS IRQ 18

Those IRQ assignments were working with the EDS in place where
the EMU is now.Any ideas?SHould I move the EMU card?

Should I finally hook up the Magma 13 slot I've been lazy with
and not hooked up.

Thamks peeps,
Pete

Pete,
I was never successful having the UAD sharing with an EDS card.
Maybe that's it? I did allow Paris to boot up though. Did you
remove the extra Scherzo driver for the removed EDS? =20

The Magma will open up your IRQ options with a little trial and error.

Broke it down to a 2 EDS system with no cards in PCI slot 5.

So no IRQ sharing with EDS cards at all and I still get the same
thing.I wondered when I threw in the EMU card if PARIS would go
funky on me;now I've got my answer.Damn!

So I took out my UAD and EMU card and 1 EDS;still getting the
same message.

So all I have in the comp are 2 EDS cards and I'm getting the
same thing.

Pretty frustrating since I had 4 EDS and 1 UAD working before I
installed the EMU 0404.

IDEAS?

Pete,
Can you go to the most recent restore point in your computer
before this debacle? That would probably work the bugs out=20
without the new EMU card installed.

Tom,
Can you believe I wasn't hip to the whole restore thing!Looks
pretty useful;of course my system restore was turned off so there
were no restore points to go back to.I turned it on,but thats
not much help with my current problem.

Thanks much though;you probably helped with all the future
problems I get into.

Pete,
Well I wouldn't want to use today's config for
a restore point that's for sure. There wasn't one
way way back? Months ago before you turned Restore off?
You know you can turn back the pages on that calendar right?
Go back another month or two. Mine saves the last day of every month.
I guess you don't have a cloned C drive either huh?

I'd go back to undoing everything you remember doing to
add that EMU card. Uninstall EMU's drivers, remove all
scherzo drivers that aren't being used. Maybe even uninstall
all the Scherzos and add one card at a time fresh. Let Windows
look for drivers.

I'm not much of a tech. I'm sure Aaron, David or DJ could fix this
for you more quickly.

Good luck,
Tom

Tom,
Can you believe I wasn't hip to the whole restore thing!Looks
pretty useful;of course my system restore was turned off so there
were no restore points to go back to.I turned it on,but thats
not much help with my current problem.

Thanks much though;you probably helped with all the future=20
problems I get into.

Pete

So I've uninstalled anything relating to EMU 0404 card and
Wavelab Essentials.Got my UAD and 1 EDS card.

Upon running PARIS now I get the same 2 windows, then a window
saying not enough resources.

Then I get a DEBUG MESSAGE: gcCreateControl: ran out of
controllers. [0/$0]

So I'm getting some new windows now with everthing broken down.
Is it time to do the XP PARIS reinstall dance?!

Just noticed minimum requirements for the 0404 say service pack
2 and I think I've only got SP1.Could that be causing my
problems and where do I get XP SP2?

TIA,
Pete

Pete,
You've done the things I would try. If you want to try
Service Pack 2 it is here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322389#E0EC0ACAAA

I'm not sure this will fix anything in Paris. As a matter of
fact I think SP2 is a bad thing unless absolutely necessary.
Paris is not all that happy with it as I have heard.

I don't have enough right answers for you but a fresh install
should certainly make all things better with Paris. I hope.

I wish smarter people would chime in for your sake.
I think Erling has an EMU card. I'm not sure he's using it within
a Paris computer though. You might try him directly.

Maybe start a new thread with something eye catching for the
smarties!

I can add that Paris seems to be running fine here for me on SP2.

YMMV.

I think the smarties went down the pub. ;o)

Cheers,
Kim.

Pete, put all 4 eds cards and the UAD card back, the way you had it before
trying to install the EMU card. See if that works, I bet it does.
Do you have a default ppj saved? If so, does it have 4 eds submixes in the
template?
If it works when you put all 4 eds cards back. Hide your default ppj, and
make it start with no default. Then start adding things back.

.............are you referring to the smartie dumbass who hosed his mobo over
the weekend trying to update the bios because he was too f***'in lazy to
RTFM on the Matrox P750?

It's been a while since I've used Paris on XP, but right offhand, I'd say
that if the 0404 needs SP2, it needs SP2, and by not having had SP2 loaded
when the drivers were loaded, demons from hell have populated this machine
and an exorcism may be required.

Before performing the exorcism though, I would recreate the *exact*
configuration that worked prior to introducing the *possessed* device and to
double check the number of submixes that pop up in the master mixer window.

ROD,YOU THE MAN!Put back all 4 cards and UAD and PARIS started
like normal.

Yes,I have a default I run from with 4 EDS/submixes.

So your saying start PARIS not from the default. Then try putting
in the EMU card?

Thanks a ton.PARIS sure is a finicky beast.

Thanks Deej.Yep,all is well since I reinstalled all 4 cards and
the UAD.PARIS opens as normal.I do have a 4 EDS/submix default
I run from so this may be my problem(see Rods post below).

I guess if I try the 0404 card again I need to get SP2.

Maybe setting up a default without the 4 cards too.

Thanks,
Pete

Pete, Now that you got that solved. Hide the default ppj in another folder
besides the root EMU folder. This will force Paris to open from an internal
default, not your set up default.
Now remove all but 1 eds and when Paris opens, it will only have 1 eds submix.
Now install the EMU card and see if that works. Then you will know if you
need sp2 or not. If it works, start adding ade cards, 1 at a time, then the
UAD card till everything works. Take it one step at a time, control the variables.
