Hi,
I have an Ensoniq ASR-10 on its way, and was considering this software as
a partner for it at some point. I'm quite comfortable with the idea of using
the ASR on its own, bus the ability to do sample editing and the rest on
PC, and have complete compatibility with every sample format, seems fairly
tempting to say the least.
Has anybody played with this stuff? Thoughts?
It's only $200... seems a bargain...

Which software did you actually use? Did you have the whole suit or just
Translator or something? If so which version?

Mmm, there is a "shareware" one. I assume it's time limited, though I will
try it and see. It only has limited support for ASR disks, in that you need
another free utility to read and write the disks. That's ok for one off's
but not ideal if it's a part of your regular workflow.
I'll do a comparison though. Thanks for the tip.

Kim ,
I use the translator software from chicken systems.
It works fine for batch processing (translating) large
libraries fom one sampler format to another.
They have a pretty extensive list of compatible formats.
I also own an ASR10 but have never felt a need to use an outside
editor because of how logical the edit menu is.
I do understand that the translator software was designed as a
second party program to assist ASR users.
The "flow" is quite different from an Ensoniq mindset though.
When you get things rolling let me know.
