Does nayone have links to good resources for optimizing XP for audio recording?
Or
Any suggestions.
I have two 7200 rpm drives and two 10k rpm sata drives.
How should I configure XP (install)...swap fil?... etc...

Thx,
B

Let windows manage its own swap and place the OS on the 7200
drive. Place one of the 10K drives in a removeable SATA
drive bay on its OWN controller (with nothing else attached)
and use that for recording to. Use the second 10K drive for
recording to when you run out of room on the first drive, or
for back-up if you wish (you can install this one
internally). The bands you record should ideally purchase
their own drive, you then install the drive into a caddy for
the session, and remove when finished. The caddies also
make it easier to manage multiple sessions, as each session
is on its own drive.

Dave what about sample ibraries etc..
Like convlution revbers and such?
Should those be ran off of the second sata drive?
I read somewhere to have your sample library on a seperate drive than the
audio recording drive.

Yes, you could place all your samples etc on the second 10K
drive that is mounted internally. You could then mount the
unused 7200 drive into a USB2 enclosure for backup purposes.
This will also take some load off the internal PSU if it
doesn't have to spin 4 drives at once.

HI Brandon,
The best site is/was www.musicxp.net but it seems to be down not sure
if it is for good.

The other great site although more general but very very informative.
