I finally got around to actually playing with the new XP system, and I seem to have a few glitches.

2 EDS cards
2 MEC's with no cards
2 C16's (blackface).

When I fire up a project, for some reason both C16's tie to Card A.

Also, I can't get the track record arm button to work now - I can hold it down and hit any channel and nothing happens. I have to arm them on the screen with the mouse.

Right now, I have a single-card project set up as I'm transferring a cassette to CD for someone. Maybe I need to set up a Mixer B and assign to MEC B before the second C16 will un-mirror the first one? I may try that when I'm done.

Help?

Did you try assigning the second C16 to submix #2 by holding down the submix button and pressing #2

Yep. Figured that one out last night. I set up a project with two submixes and finally figured out how to turn both mixer/editor screens on and how to assign the C16's.

I still have the issue where the record-enable button does nothing. I'm also running into sluggishness on non-responsiveness with the EQ cycle button - I have to choose which EQ I'm working on with the mouse. But then maybe it's a hardware problem with my C16's. But I find it hard to believe that both are failing in the same way, especially since both have very low mileage on them.

Maybe your C16's have been assigned in 'Pro' mode. You can un-assign them from the main paris window that's displayed at start up under the 'C-16 setup' menu.

Cheers

As I don't use my C16 a lot I'm at a loss as to where to point you to get tracks to arm...as for sluggishness that I'll leave to those more qualified than me

Just to check the procedure - [edited to add - whoops, I had it backwards myself, good thing I re-checked] you're holding down the "select" button(s) on the C16 for whichever track(s) you want armed, and then tapping the "record" button on the C16's transport to record-arm them, right?

Odd that it's not working, it works flawlessly for me here (although I had the technique a little wrong in my head at first, which was frustrating). I don't know, maybe try powering everything down (including the PC) and using a little contact cleaner on the connectors - I have no idea of the C16's pinouts but I suppose it's not out of the realm of possibility that a dirty contact somewhere is interfering.

The EQ buttons on one of my own C16s are failing too - similar symptoms (unsurprising, I suppose, since they're of similar age). I'm pretty sure the problem is just that they're getting old and in need of servicing, and I'll be cracking AA's tutorial on C16 servicing pretty soon to put them back into spec.

The last time I had C16 problems, (both black face) or even a single C16, was because of the "Pro" config in the Paris config settings. I got no record track enable, submix issues and even start, stop and record problems. Deselected the "pro" mode and either single or two C16s worked as expected.

Sweet. I will try that tomorrow evening when I have a chance to fire things up.
