I have worked exclusively in Cubase 2 and am upgrading to 4.
I understand that files created in 2 aren't playable in 4. I only
use midi so I'm not sure if that's true about midi data too?
Do I have to install 3 (don't have it) to update my midi mixes?

Thanks,
Tom

Export to MID format out of ver2, import the MID file back into 4 (or
whatever program you want at that point).I don't see any way that could go
wrong, really. Same on audio tracks, render from zero, pull them back into
whatever version/program you want. You should, being an old Paris hat, be
used to how that works :)

Hey Aaron,

Ya, the data is only half the battle. It's the mix settings
with all the VSTi s that I'm also concerned about.

Any bad stuff using Cubase 4 ver 4.5.2 ?
I read a bunch of gotchyas and logged them.

Should I be worried?

Hi Tom,
You should treat the the VSTi like any instrument and bounce it down.
You can get Cubase SX 3 for free if you are a Cubase 4 user needing to bring in old projects.

ftp://ftp.steinberg.net/Download/Cubase_4/Cubase_SX_3_VST_So ng_Conversion/PC/

Cubase SX 3 does a decent job of importing version 2 projects.
