I'm trying some different summing approaches, and want to send
8 to 12 channels from the mix (without having to bounce down into 4 - 8 stereo
pairs first) out to analog, and record back on to the playing field.

I should be able route all the drums (for instance) to aux 1, all the guitars
to aux 2, vox to aux 3 etc and have them sum back into the mains right? I
should set the sends as pre fader,
and mute the individual tracks right? Trouble is, I can't get any
audio out of the MEC to the analog board. I know with Inserts, you have to
complete the signal path in the patch bay but I'm having no success with
this.

Can anybody explain this for me? I used to be able to do it 3 or 4 years
ago, but can't now...

Thanks

Ted

I have routed auxes back to the mixer using Chuck's wires out and wires in
but that's within a single subgroup if I remember...also if I'm not mistaken
you can use Faderworks in this manner but I could be wrong..

I remember Deej walked me through an aux out setup in the patchbay and I
have the setup saved...only problem is my paris rig is down for the count
and I can't access it.

It's been awhile for me, but I've had an aux setup for drummer mixes set up
successfully, so I don't see any reason why this shouldn't work.

As far as pre/post fader goes, don't mute the channels, just bring the
faders all the way down.

As far as the sends themselves, be sure that each one is set to be a stereo
send.

In your PARIS patchbay, route the sends to the outputs of your MEC.
