Well, I know that Mike Audet is still working diligently on keeping PARIS up-to-date and useful with the latest Operating Systems. He has a great deal of specialized knowledge that he puts to good use keeping us up and running. Without his drivers, we'd all still be stuck running Windows98, so I don't think it's out of line whatsoever for him to charge $50 for his drivers. (Actually, I think it's a hell of a bargain.) The only things I think we should post are the things that a) are available for free, or b) aren't available for love or money otherwise. (E.g., the PARIS executables.)
Doing a web search, I couldn't find a place to pay Chris for the drivers, which is the only reason I offered them. I don't know if he's charging for them or not. But don't short-change the guys who are the only thing that have kept us relevant in the past 12 years - they're the only ones who who continue to do so in the future. (And I, for one, want them to have EVERY incentive to keep doing what they're doing!!)

I'll host the drivers - AFAIK it was always Chris' intention they be given away for free. They went offline when Doug changed servers, breaking his download links. We've been awaiting his announced re-linking of files.
Mike's even recommended them as being slightly more efficient on single processor systems, in a theoretical sense, than his own. He's being modest, of course. Mike's drivers are better for two reasons (neither one a negative reflection on Chris' work). First, Mike supports them, even spending hours on the phone getting people's systems up and running when necessary. Outside us, there's no support for Chris' drivers. And second, Mike's drivers killed a lot of bugs, any one of which could have caused enough problems that you could kiss the time saved by that theoretical efficiency advantage goodbye.
Let's dispel some fantasies here. Mike's not a card-carrying member of "The Power". Mike's a guitarist, teacher and PARIS fan in Canada who taught himself to write code from the ground up to see if he could tackle some problems in our aging PARIS rigs. He's got a wife and a kid, this isn't his job but his hobby, and $50 from every PARIS fan in the world wouldn't pay him McDonalds wages for the hours he's put in. He's a hero here and I look forward to even cooler achievements in the future.
As far as "staff" here, the staff is me, Kerry Galloway, a bassist and PARIS fan in Vancouver Canada. I don't do advertising, I don't sell data, and I don't solicit donations; I built this site (and the Wiki) for free and I host it at my own expense. Because I think PARIS is pretty cool.
It's really time to let go of that antiquated "PARIS user screwed by the power" hooey. It's not like it ever did anyone any favors. If you want to do some good for PARIS, think fresh - put that energy into something more constructive like filling in some of the myriad blanks on the Wiki.
