Hi All,

I can't believe I got it done, but here it is!

This things sounds so smooth that it will blow your mind.

You can run two instances per card, and all the DSP power is going to very
good use. You just have to hear this.

You can order it at www.ensoniq.ca. I've continued to leave the pricing
as "Pay what you can." Please be fair with this if you value these plugins.

As always, let me know what you think!

Damn, I wish I had those algos when I used Paris. I have had a DP4 in my
rack since they came out though.

Hi Bill,

I've got a DP/4, too, and these plugins sound better. They were ported to
the esp2 chips to be used in the DP/Pro, or as a starting point for the dp/pro
algo development. I have no idea if they were improved at that point, or
if it's just not having the 16 bit converters in the way, but both the hall
and the plate sound way better in PARIS that in my dp/4.

I'll be porting the actual DP/Pro algos soon, and I used this naming convention
to distinguish them.

All the best,

Mike

oh my god i had no idea...just looked at your paris pluginlist...oh man if
i would have had that
back when i still used paris, oooooh....

seriously though, at the risk that people kill me here for
suggesting a platform change, but did you ever think about
porting the stuff to VST at some point? i know quite a few people that would
kill for a lot of the old ensoniq effects in VST form...

Hi Derek,

VST is on my to-do list, but not until after I've ported all the plugins
I can to PARIS.

I think you should buy another PARIS rig and come on home!

:)

Arrrrgh! Is it time to go shopping for a Paris friendly PC? Will current
hardware run XP and Paris? Any ideas what a machine might cost?

Whew.

It's possible. I don't own a Mac, and I want to work on the PARIS driver,
too. I was hoping that I could just recompile a VST plugin for Mac, and
that would be that.

I'm sorry, Gantt. I'm sure that Chuck has his hands full with work and family.
As soon as I get the Mac, I'll try recompiling these. With a little luck,
they will all just work, and I can have the Mac versions done in a night.

As for current PCs, I don't know. I purposely got an unusual PC that takes
a modern CPU in an older chipset to be sure I could run PARIS under Windows
XP and Windows 98. I'm sure somebody else has tried PARIS on a PCI Express
chipset, though. Maybe a new thread on that would get their attention.

All the best,

Mike

Hi Mike,

I wasn't trying to make you feel guilty!!! We all appreciate what you're
doing... I have an old Mac G3 - 600mHz or thereabouts - that, I think, has
OS 9 mounted on it. Would that be enough computer to work with?

oh i still have it ready in the second control room and
use it every now and then to export an old project (which
is a real PITA). but other than that, theres just no way back,
im too spoiled with the typical 2008 daw featureset to return to
a 1999 daw featureset ;-) as lovely as paris is...

so...you have like what, all the ensoniq effect algorithms that
were done for the first and second generation ESP? dp4, ASR,
dp pro etc? or just parts of them? what about the waveboy stuff.
i know people that would kill for mr. mauchlys resonant filter
in VST form (me being one of them)

Hi Derek,

I have some of the code, all of it is for the esp2. I haven't come across
that particular algo, unfortunately.

I do plan to port the effect to vst. It's just that my priority is building
up PARIS.

All the best,

Mike

I really appreciate your offer! I've actually got OS9 running on my PC in
an emulator so that I can compile the plugins from this machine.

The issue is that Chuck said that the compiler setup for the Mac plugs is
esoteric. He said until the mac was shipped to him, he couldn't get anywhere
with them. I plan to transplant the disk image to my PC as soon as it arrives.

But, if someone has a copy of code warrior for OS 9, I'll give it a try.
I can load up OS 9 with a click of a mouse on my dual core Athlon here,
which is really cool! As long as someone else can test them for me, I should
be ok with the hardware I have.

I did acquire a copy of code warrior already, but it only runs on OS X.
Actually, let me send an email and see if I can find out what version of
Code Warrior is needed. I'll let you know what I hear. I'd really like
to get this done, too.

All the best,

Mike
