I've always thought a Bosendorfer is like a heavy metal

Who ever had the original session with this player, do you have any small
clip of what it sounds like? I went to Ilio's site, and all they had for
demos was all this old classical stuff. The one I listened to had some problems
when ever the player hit eight keys or more at a rapid pace, it seemed to
choke, but that would be a midi problem not bad samples. I would love to
hear something more contemporary. I am REALLY sold on the believability of
"Ivory" and am considering adding it to my arsinal.

In a word, great.
Ivory seems to run better on Receptor than on Mac or PC. The achilles heal
of Receptor has been streaming large piano libraries from disc at playable
latency using Native Instruments Kontakt. Ivory just plain rocks on the thing.
Other non sample based softsynths have always run like a champ on it.
My main application for it is live performance. I run the Scarbee Rhodes/Wurly,
Native Instruments B4, MTron, and assorted other stuff on it. I have yet
to fire up "Uniwire" (A VST plugin that calls to Receptor over ethernet)
and integrate it as an effects processor into my studio, so I can't comment
too much about that side of things. One of these days I'll switch to XP for
Paris and get that going.

Steve,
I'll post up some MP3's of the session later today or tomorrow. These are
just piano/vocal cover tunes for a client who is cutting a demo for lounge
singing gigs.
The secret to Ivory is getting a good controller, dialing in the proper
velocity curve in the application (very easy to do) and having a computer
that can handle streaming all of the voices (over 160) and will allow the
notes to decay normally. I'm using a dualcore AMD 4200 with 4G RA and it
handles this task with ease. There are *lots* of presets in the application
which are based on different EQ, ambience, chorusing, etc. I turn all that
off and just use the dry piano samples. It's scary realistic.
