I was hoping to do the same with PARIS, but PARIS doesn't find the =
wrappers in the vst fxt subfolder. I tried the wrappers in the vst =
folder and PARIS crashed when trying to load them - apparently doesn't =
like the lan extension. Looks like I'm back to sound card shopping. =
The FXT people, Ric, wouldnt even look at PARIS, since its a "dead" =
product. I did get it to work fine with Wavelab (in a simple file =
sharing setup) using my integrated nics and a switch, but havent tried =
any other sequencers yet. Its claimed to work with most of Steinbergs =
stuff and Sonar, Acid, Logic, etc. Its currently being tested with =
Samplitude. If someone could get it to work with PARIS, that would be a =
major major. If you already have a second machine (running native to =
PARIS), you should be able to run a 3rd machine and use FXT between them =
w/o a soundcard. Also, at present FXT doesn't work with DX plugs - =
maybe with a dx/vst wrapper of some sort?

Edna,
Since you are the only person I know who has this happening, when you =
have the time, could you please tell me what I', doing wrong here?
First of all, my machines are networked through a switch using the Intel =
Gigabit NIC cards and the Linksys switch at Ric recommended. I have also =
tried this bypassing the switch and just using a crossover cable between =
the two machines with no difference in the result.
The IP address of the host machine running Cubase SX is 192.168.0.165
and the server is 192.168.0.166. The subnets on both machines are =
255.255.255.0. There are no firewalls between these two machines, no =
Norton software running on either one of them
The FXT install prompts a directory path of C://Program Files/FX =
Teleport
I install to this directory on the server, launch the FXT server applet =
and enter the directory path of the VT plugins on this machine, which is =
:
C://Program Files/Steinberg/VSTplugins
Then I install FXT to my Host machine using the same default directory =
path and the same directory path for the plugins.
The FXT host wrapper does not find any plugins on the host machine and =
does not locate the romote machine.
I have all possible networking functions set ot automatic in system =
settings (none of them are disabled) so this shouldn't be an issue.
I'm sooooo stumped.

Are you using the same workgroup name, and different computer names? =
Actually, if normal tcp/ip networking is properly working, there =
shouldnt be a problem with this part. You may want to disable netbeui =
and IPX. I am setup using "simple file sharing" in both checkboxes, so =
no logons required. I am also using the Linksys Gbit switch, and Gbit =
nics, Intel on host and Via on server. I am running WXP Pro, SP1 on =
both machines with Windows firewalls off. No Norton or other protection =
programs installed, since I don't use either for internet. I have heard =
that some virus programs can still prevent sharing even when turned off. =
I used the default install paths as you did for FXT. I use the same =
location of the plugs on the server as you, and also on the host. I =
just ran the server install again, it only asked me where to install fxt =
- be sure and choose the slave install in the window. It didn;t mention =
anything about plugs. And That was all there was to the server =
installation. It almost sounds like your using the installation for the =
host on the server. Was there a window that came up on the server =
saying fxt was running after the install? In the host install, it will =
locate your plugin folder on the host and display it in the lower =
window. This where it will install the wrappers as a subfolder. Before =
it installs the wrappers, it must find the plugins on the server. It =
should prompt you in the dialog above the lower window. Then remove =
anything showing in the lower window and add the server location, =
browsing thru your network places folder. After it finds them they will =
appear in the left window above highlighted. Select any and install. =
If you can normally share your drives/folders both ways on your network =
thru "TCP/IP" it should work. Assuming your server is "running," you =
might try different paths to the plugins folder on the server in the =
Host configure applet - look in the FXT folder in program files/FX =
Teleport to access it.

have the time, could you please tell me what I', doing wrong here?
First of all, my machines are networked through a switch using the =
Intel Gigabit NIC cards and the Linksys switch at Ric recommended. I =
have also tried this bypassing the switch and just using a crossover =
cable between the two machines with no difference in the result.
Teleport
I install to this directory on the server, launch the FXT server =
applet and enter the directory path of the VT plugins on this machine, =
which is :
C://Program Files/Steinberg/VSTplugins
Then I install FXT to my Host machine using the same default directory =
path and the same directory path for the plugins.
The FXT host wrapper does not find any plugins on the host machine and =
does not locate the romote machine.
I have all possible networking functions set ot automatic in system =
settings (none of them are disabled) so this shouldn't be an issue.
I'm sooooo stumped.

DJ,
Is it Norton? Does it not find all your plugs?
What doesn't work about it? I'm thinking of
using it instead of a sound card. My setup
won't be as complicated as yours I doubt.

I can't get this to work at all. I've had an IT pro over here =
all afternoon.
We've done everything.....and I mean *everything*.
No luck at all.

Are you using the same workgroup name, =

different computer names? Actually, if normal tcp/ip networking is =
properly working, there shouldnt be a problem with this part. You =
may want=20
to disable netbeui and IPX. I am setup using "simple file sharing" =

checkboxes, so no logons required. I am also using the Linksys Gbit =
switch, and=20
Gbit nics, Intel on host and Via on server. I am running WXP Pro, =

both machines with Windows firewalls off. No Norton or other=20
protection programs installed, since I don't use either for =
internet. =20
I have heard that some virus programs can still prevent sharing =
even when=20
turned off. I used the default install paths as you did for =
FXT. I=20
use the same location of the plugs on the server as you, and also on the =
host. I just ran the server install again, it only asked me where =
to=20
install fxt - be sure and choose the slave install in the window. =
It=20
didn;t mention anything about plugs. And That was all there was to =
the=20
server installation. It almost sounds like your using the =
installation for=20
the host on the server. Was there a window that came up on the =
server=20
saying fxt was running after the install? In the host install, it =
will=20
locate your plugin folder on the host and display it in the lower =
window. =20
This where it will install the wrappers as a subfolder. Before it =
installs=20
the wrappers, it must find the plugins on the server. It should =
prompt you=20
in the dialog above the lower window. Then remove anything showing =
in the=20
lower window and add the server location, browsing thru your network =
places=20
folder. After it finds them they will appear in the left =
window above=20
highlighted. Select any and install. If you can =
normally share=20
your drives/folders both ways on your network thru "TCP/IP" it should=20
work. Assuming your server is "running," you might try different =
paths to=20
the plugins folder on the server in the Host configure applet - look in =
the FXT=20
folder in program files/FX Teleport to access it.
