There's a little of that in anybody that's in to audio, just look at gear
slutz. Who wouldn't want to own a five hundred thousand dollar recording
console??? Gear lust, or is it more than that?

Hey, I wonder what these guys think of MP3s? I'll bet MP3s really drive
those guys batty!

I don't care about the 500K console. Not a bit. If I had
unlimited funds I would get a turnkey DAW from these guys:

http://www.sequoiadigital.com/index.shtml

and a huge load of outboard pres, processors, mics, plugins
and a mastering-grade monitoring system.

And probably go back to Paris anyway...

And I'll bet saying "MP3" to those guys would start a fistfight...

heh

My experience with extreme audiophiles is that they are passionate
beyond belief about music and hear acutely.

Unfortunately they often do little to learn about the actual
physics involved, and so get taken for a ride by a lot of
snake oil companies.

problem is some of the best music in the world is and was done on very
low tech and low quality mediums. They will probably never listen to
just because it's not "HIFI". :)
