A, that's the same thing I was doing with Paris & Logic
together on the same machine when I first got Paris; in order
to be able to use Logic's MIDI feature to playback/trigger my
programmed synth parts & record them into Paris (v2).
I don't recall the exact procedure, but you had to have various
settings on each app set "just so", and then Paris HAD to be
the slave (contrary to what the manual says, in that Paris
works better as the master app).

Hmmm. . .curious, since the analog in goes through another conversion, that
it would sound better. Are you using effects, eq, etc, in PARIS, or just
summing? It would be interesting to see a spectrum view of the Nuendo mix
and the summed PARIS mix.

It's largely because of the sound and warmth of the Paris converters
compared to 20bit digital.
Its definitely not a huge thing and I guess it comes down to taste.
However the summing thing is not subtle at all. I've done a series of ABs
where I have gain matched and compared the outputs of a 16 ch sum with no eq
no effects and I can pick the mixes every time.
When I sum in paris I may do a little bit of extra EQ - probably just to
account for the bass lump.
I just add the Lexicon back in at this point rather than EDS FX.
However I wouldn't be shy about using a chorus or whatever over a group if I
needed it within Paris
