Hey Paris People, how are you!?
Well, I don't really know who's still here after all this time, but I just
wanted to let those who may be interested, or were interested at one time,
or used to be interesed and still just might be interested, that we finally
have a CD for sale of the
songs I posted oh so long ago (all recorded on Paris in my
little home studio).
Please check out our website:

Macle,
Very British sounding. Nice vocal blends and parts. You
made a great sounding album with a small amount of gear.
I hope you do well with it. Congrats!
Tom

Thanks Aaron. Good to be here. I've been out of the web scene
for a while, so naturally this is the first place I returned to.
Great to see you guys still keeping Paris alive.

Hey,
I still have one of your samples on my desktop from way back when. I
like the style a lot, being a British Invasion baby myself. I'm too broke
to buy anything now, but my group has a new all-PARIS CD, too, so maybe if
you like it, we can swap. :)
Good work,
Sarah

You need to get this material to Tony Ferguson at Innerscope. He's the guy
who *discovered* No Doubt. I will be on staff at an event in Park Cities
Utah in October. Tony (among others) will be there. If you're interested in
attending, e-me at animix@animas.net and I'll maske sure this gets heard.

Hey macle, your songs sound great! I know quite a few A&R guys and Deej's
idea of getting your material to Tony Ferguson is a 100% direct hit. Tony
would be the number one guy I would submit your songs to first. I think
he would like your stuff. I recommend you take Deej up on his offer!

Hey DJ, wow, thanks, that's very cool!!
Right now we are wrapped up in being a complete DIY indie thing (switching
from re-mastering engineer to graphic designer to webmaster to CD packing
and distribution, while working on some
new room treatment and finally getting down to CD 2 and, oh yeah,
almost forgot, writing songs :) ).
We sort of are trying to not think about "the biz", and actually kind of
enjoying the DIY thing, but, you know, a multi-million dollar deal with chicks
and cocaine and someone else to pack the CDs might change our mind (maybe)!
What is the event?
Thanks very much!

Hi Sarah, thanks! I'm the king of broke, so I hear what you're
saying. (Maybe we're broke because we're always giving our stuff
away?!). Seriously though, The Mates actually made a pact to not
give any away, or swap or anything, even to friends or family
or even those damn industry people. For a long time, we
were giving our CD away, swapping with everyone, giving it away
on the net and so on, but since we have this new re-mastered one
with packaging and all, we feel we should try to be more real
about it, if you know what I mean. Hope that doesn't seem kinda dicky :)

Hey Steve, good to see ya! So cool that so many from the
ol' days are still around here.
Thanks very much for buying the CD, appreciate it.
You know, I remember a long while ago, when I posted The
Buzz Is Over here, and you said it was the first song in a long
while that you felt compelled to pick out the chords like a
Beatle song. That meant a lot to me, very inspiring. That sort of
comment is what keeps you going when feel like giving up.
So thanks very much Steve!

I'll get back to you with more details in the next few days. I have a couple
of calls out right now to the organizers. If he's interested the first thing
Tony (or any A&R guy) will want to know is if you're ready to perform this
material live (as in 'giggin locally and on the road"). The fact that you
have a *radio ready* CD is a big plus. The fact that you guys are from LA is
also a plus. A & R guys like to walk in to a readymade money machine-act
with strong local following/draw piotential if at all possible. If you've
done a lot of self promotion and are making money due to your own efforts
and they can just sign you and get that money themselves is always a plus in
their book Whether or not there's enough in it for you to make it worth your
while is another matter altogether.

Btw, some people are commenting on the sound (thanks!). Must be
listening to the clip I have on the website. Those snippets
are before the re-mastering, so (hopefully) the CD will sound
better than that.
Okay, thanks, sorry to be bogarting the board with this :).

I think that what I'm hearing was well mixed. I have ordered the CD and am
looking forward to hearing the remastered version.

Alright, cool.
Yeah, that's the thing, all the stuff you mention, not sure if
we're really at the place they would want or need (we're not
playing live, for example). Plus, based on the experience we had
before, not sure if we really want to deal with that stuff right
now (long story).
But, you never know!
Thanks very much DJ.

;o).......well..... I'm gonna spread this around a little
bit................
http://www.ksut.org/underwriters.cfm
http://www.kdur.org/
http://www.997thepoint.com/
It's a small town here with a local liberal arts college with lots of kids
from all over the place........very active music scene.
I don't know how successful I'll be, but I have met the program directors
for these stations and they all have had various *opportunity hours* for
local indy projects to get airplay. You guys aren's local, but I am and I
record some of the artists who these guys know, so I'll try to sneak
something in under the radar.

Dicky? You mean like those fake shirt collar things guys used to wear back
in the sixties? I always thought guys would look cute in nothing but
dickies and shoes. :)
OK, fine then, I'm going to just buy your damn CD . . . that'll teach ya.
I'm only broke cuz I've been in school for four years, but I start working
on monday, so I think I can afford support my local PARISites.
No, you're not being dicky. A little persnickety maybe, but not dickey.
But I understand completely. We're not giving many of ours away either cuz
we're not looking at this one as a demo . . . it's all shrinkwrapped and
bar-coded and has a 16 page lyric booklet full of professional artwork, and
the nice man who paid for the manufacturing would probably prefer that we
try to sell it rather than give it away. But still, you want people to hear
it, so it's always so tempting to just go to a mall and pass them out. :)
Good luck,
Sarah

Before this thread dissapears, let me say congrats on your completion of
your efforts. Great to here you're for sale.
I know you said you wanted to keep things unsigned etc, but have you considered
CD Baby? You don't have to sign your life away, and they make the whole sales
process automatic. All you do is send them a box of disks here and there
and your work is done. They take like 9% (from memory) or $5 a disk and the
rest is yours.
....PLUS you get on Itunes I believe... :o)
Just a thought...
Good luck with it though. You guys deserve some success. :o)
Cheers,
Kim.
