I imported the tracks into wavelab and had the same clicks. I don't think
it's heat. Side of computer is open to cool room. Could be power related,
though it's wierd that it just happenend after all this time.

More wild speculation....

If you are recording and your computer is close to 100% CPU power the
simple checking the cdrom drive can cause clicks and pops at regular
intervals...Also if a hard drive is sharing an IDE channel with a cdrom
and it checks for a cd in the drive then that hard drive cannot be accessed

But would this only affect certain tracks or all track? My current project
is nine tracks. and only three are affected. And the old question of why
now all of a sudden after all these years? I'm gonna try pulling out one
of the eds cards to see if it's a power issue (I'm guessing more power will
be availible to remaining eds card). If all is well with one eds card what
are my options ? I have a pretty beefy power supply in it now. I guess
I could try to get an expansion chassis.

i had this happen years ago and it was the power feed to the cd drive.
this was the beginning of the end for the ps. for a temp fix try
switching the power feed to the drive or disconnect it.

I seem to have discovered the trouble. While mixing my last album I had to
get a new dual head pci card. (old matrox agp card died.) Well it was no
problem mixing but it didn't like it when I started tracking pre pro for
our new cd. I bought a ati radeon 7000 agp card to replace the pci card
and all seems well.
I am thinking of getting a used magna pci to pci expansion chassis so I
can add two more monitors and maybee a third eds card.

Thanks to everyone who offered there help. I haden't been to this newsgroup
in quite a while and I was pleased to see I wasn't the only one in the world
still going strong with paris.
