Hi Paris people,

A friend's Paris rig is booting up with this file missing.
StockFx.dll

He has to click it away five times to get Paris running.
Is there a fix for this? His system has been unstable
as of late. Maybe this is the reason?

Any easy tips? He's not a computer guy any more than
he has to be.

Tom

Don't know this is of any help:

http://www.kerrygalloway.com/WikiPARIS/wikka.php?wakka=BugsT roubleshooting

http://www.kerrygalloway.com/WikiPARIS/wikka.php?wakka=Stock Fx

---

"The application has failed to start because StockFX.ini was not found..."

If you've installed third-party EDS plugins, make sure that you've
followed *all* the directions listed in the install document∞ -
including the section pertaining to file path information.

---

If it's not that, once the smarter folks chime in on this I'll add it
to the Wiki.

Hi Kerry,

Thanks for the links.

I'm pretty sure the file is a .dll not .ini .

It can be a good idea to try a reinstall.
If so, make a backup of the Paris map as a zip or RAR file a place on
the harddisk or burn a CD with it, just to have copies of
"Paris_fx.var" and "Paris.cfg". Uninstall Paris and delete the
E-mu\Paris pro maps before a clean reinstall. If it's a WinXP
installation, be sure to follow the XP-prosedyre and also have a look
at Mike Audet's updates for modern WinXP computers.
Good luck

Hi Erling,

A complete install is what we are trying to avoid but it may be coming.

What do you think of the idea of me sending him my
StockFX.dll from my rig and having him overwrite his in
System32?

Thanks for your input,
Tom

A couple of questions - what OS is he using, is it indeed XP (sounds
like it)? And has he altered his installation in any way from a base
PARIS setup, like adding third-party EDS plugs?

Hi Kerry,

He may have or more likely may not have a few of the new ones in there.
I know I do.

Does that effect the StockFX.dll? I was thinking that came from the initial
Paris program.
