HI DJ,
Did you call me earlier at work?
Who ever took the message didn't even come close to getting the phone
number right.

The Saffire LE and the Saffire Pro have both been working fine so on any
of the systems we've used them on. The Saffire Pro works best when
plugged in the bus powering is sketchy.
Also the Saffire NON-LE) version is a waste of money. the plug ins that
come with it suck and you get less analog I/O so it's pretty useless.

Except for the sound issues with Sonar the TC Konnekt series sound great
and have been working good so far with everything but Sonar. The 24d
comes with Fabrik C and Fabrik R and also the Assimulator plug in from
the power core. It has some DSP of the powercore in it. The plugins
sound excellent.

Otherwise the MOTU 8Pre would the other thing I'd recommend for a budget
firewire interface atm.

Yeah...that was me. I was wondering if this thing was any good..........

http://www.zzounds.com/item--FOCSAFFIRE

Amy writes a lot of stuff spur of the moment while she is doing other work
(graphics mostly) on her computer in her office. The purpose of getting this
would be so that amy would have some reverb available in the cans while she
was laying down scratch vocal/guitar tracks to a click for roughs in Cubase
LE. Then I could just grab them on the network and import them into Cubase 4
in the main studio for further production.

We want something simple and easy to use. Does that even exist? Large track
count isn't an issue. Most of this stuff iwll be two track.

Maybe the TC box? Every step up seems to involve another $100.00 here and
there with the possibility of it still not being WAF. It may be more
effective to just get her a FF400 and an outboard reverb.

I think Tony has one. I think you should email him. People have said that
the mic pres suck, YMMV.

If you went with an M-Audio or Digi interface you could advertise that your
studio has ProTools. With the M-Audio you can run Cubase SX and PT. Get
the 1814 or the proFire Lightbridge and you could put whatever converters
or pres you want in front of PT.

Just my thoughts.

Hi DJ,
We got overstock on these versions. Ill sell you one at cost.We only
sell the LE and Pro. They do sound better than the M-Audio IMHO but not
as good as the TC.
The reverb on the TC sound very good so it might be the way to go.

HI DJ,
The LE has 2 more analog inputs but no dsp effects and it is ina black box.
Otherwise they are the same. The non LE one is more money becuase of the
effects. The effects are not very good. So basically everybody is
buying the LE one.

Yes, I do. The plug-ins are not good in general. The reverb would be ok for
some ambiance while tracking, but not usable on a finished track IMO. The
comps are not good, and the guitar amp simulation is the worst I've heard.
It's not that the pres are hideous, they're just very, very mediocre.
Lifeless comes to mind as an adjective here. The line ins sound fine and
I've haven't had any troubles with it operationally. With that said, if
you're interested in one, I'll sell mine at a good price. It's one year old,
and I've probably got less than 10 hours on it total. I got it to use with
my laptop, thinking it would be a good song writing tool when traveling. The
problem is, I don't travel all that much, and when I do, I don't have time
to write, so. . . Anyhoo, I just don't have as much use for a mobile
interface as I though I might. Let me know, and I'll shoot you a good price.
