yup... the version i turned into mastering has less hats. i'll let him
worry about the air.

if i have double tracked guitars... they are always hard L and R. standard.
if i can, i like to feature one layer left and another on the right. it
worked perfect in this track... leaning the chimey ones left and the
crunchier ones right.

Wow, that's very nice. Cool song, and I love the little guitar thingie
before the verses. Definitely sounds pro to me.
You say "mainstream music biz" . . . is this your music? Or who . . . ?
If I had any "criticism, " it would just be that it sounds a little more
squished than I like, but is that because you want it extra squished for
mainstream airplay?

no... not my music. i just re-mixed it for mainstream radio release.
the "squishing" has nothing to do with mainstream airplay.

What??? Man, Just up and keep those lame crtiques to your self. That's a finished
record..
Engineering a mix is art. The mixer is an artist. This is his or her (mix)
vision. Then, it up to the listener to make eq choices to please on their
car, home or mp3 devices.
Jeremy's mix is radio ready and will translate very well on the airwaves..

In addition, in my experience, broadcast limiters (the ones on radio stations)
and internet compression don't necessarily like that artificially boosted
'air above 14 khz' trick.
