i haven't turned on paris for sometime and tried to do so today. got the failure to communicate with the mec on initialization prompt. i've tried the cards individually, on different pci slots, cleaned them and the scsi connection on both the card and mec, tried swapping the connections (yeah i know if one end doesn't work that ain't gonna help). so after all that testing my big brain figures the cable is what went bad just sitting there.

so i go to best buy and ask about the 50 pin mini scsi cable i need and you'd think i was from another planet...they've never heard of scsi...oh yeah...

i tried new egg and "there are zero matches for your search"

sooooooooo does anybody have one laying around so i can at least test my rig to see if that's the problem? i'll pay the shipping both ways if it's not the problem and obviously pay for the cable and shipping if it is.

thanks

Those suckers are getting harder to find. I'm not sure, does this look like the right one?

Thanks Jeff - what was the final verdict on 10' SCSI cables for the MECs? I seem to recall 6' was the maximum recommended length for cables between actual SCSI devices, but for the MECS 10' was fine if they're good quality and in good condition; that sound about right?

I am running 6' but have a couple 10' Jan Stolpe used with his system he sold me. He didn't seem to have an issue with them (if I remember correctly).
