Not sure how it happened but the drum and bass tracks on the slave computer
somehow lost sync on the last two song of a 16 song (yes..turns out there
were 16 songs cut in the punk band tracking marathon), back-to-back session.
Of course, eyeballing the tracks on two comps to line them up is really a
PITA so there's a drawback to this. I think in the future, if I need more
than 18 inputs, I will track to the Multifacia A/D's on the slave and then
monitor enable the tracks on the slave and patch the ADAT outs of the slave
into the ADAT ins on the Master DAW and just record them into the main
project. It was fun trying this because I had always wondered if it would
work. It does, but my main purpose for having a slave was for VSTi's and
that's pretty much how it's going to stay now that I've tried tracking to
two DAWs. Not worth the potential for grief.
I have a VSTi template loaded in the Slave DAW with Ivory, BFD, GPO,
Trilogy, Halion and the 4 synths in Cubase and even at the highest settings,
they (and the OS/Cubase) are using about 1.65GB of RAM so there seems to be
plenty to spare...plus I can run some VSTi's on the master if need be and/or
just freeze
That Silverspike Tapeit app saved my butt today. It's a very cool and
functional little critter. Highly recommended. Thanks to LaMont for
suggesting it..
