Hi DJ,
I am doing this when I need to supply video to my vocal booth
(A telephone box sized Auralex Max construction :-)). Normally
my Quadhead supplies 8 LCD screens, 4 21" that are vertical
behind my Tascam 2400 controller, and 4 15" that are at 45
degrees in front them which are touch sensitive. I use DVI "Y"
cables each supplying a 21"/15" pair. Longest run on these =
12 feet. When I want to see what is going on from the vocal booth
I disconnect one of the touch screens since my arms are not 20
feet long I can't use it anyway :-) and plug in a DVI:VGA adaptor
to the open DVI "Y" arm and that into an IOGear 2 port splitter.
This because they were cheap at OfficeMax and take VGA In, supply
2 VGA out and boost to 215 feet, and it was the boost I needed.
This should be totally unclear to anyone but you! LOL! What you
can do is plug a DVI Y into your card ( don't think they make a
"Y" with 1 DVI, 1 VGA but might be wrong), take 1 arm to your
existing LCD, plug the DVI/VGA adaptor into the other arm (these
things are molded and about 2" long) and use a cheap VGA boost
box like I did. Probably need the boost to go more than 12 feet.
I have 3 or 4 VGA boost boxes sitting here if you want to try one.
I promise that all this makes absolute sense to me :-)

Hehehe!!!!.makes absolute sense to me too and sounds exactly like what I
need to happen. I'm using a UA 610 Solo for splitting dry electric guitar
signal off to the control room A/D's while the "thru" jack is sending the
guitar signal to the input of a mic'ed cab in an iso booth. The same basic
scenario is happening with inputting electric bass to a Little Labs STD
Allows very long cable runs from the instrument to the box and the box
provides two 1/4" passive outs), taking the STD output with the ground lift
direct to my B15N Portaflex in an iso room and the other 1/4" out to an old
ART tubepack (very cool for Bass DI/levelling), amplifying and compressing
it in 6the tracking area and then sending it on to the input of a TL Audio
tube EQ in the control room for final shaping/sweetening before hitting the
A/D converter. this way, the players (especially the bassist) have the
freedom to stroll around all over the tracking area or down into the
drumroom to lock in with the drummer since this kind of octopus rig will
support ridiculously long cable runs. I need to be able to see a monitor in
order to dial in some basic levels on the 610 Solo and the Tubepack in the
tracking area while keeping an eye on these unruly heathens. The minute I
disappear behind the curtain, they quit minding me and start misbehaving..

I just tried to ring you. Your message center is full so you must be popular
since you posted this. I'll bet thousands of people have been callin you
wanting to know how to build a virtual touch screen mixing desk. Give me a
call when you have the time. I'm seeing different models of DVI>DVI
splitters with some reviews that indicate major suckage. I'd loke to get
something right for a change.
