speaking of suckage. My laptop on xp uses 600 MB of ram after boot up and
the process page is useless at identifying what apps are using it all. For
example, my activclient dod cac card authenticator has at least 8 separate
processes/services running eating up ram.

I don't think there is a solution now but I wish there was a way to clearly
show me what apps are using what memory. On my stripped down pc I can install
XP with SP2 and only use 150mb ram. It kills me to see 450mb ram go to antivirus
crap and authentication crap.

Oh well, maybe one day they will make it so I can actually control this beast.

I wish I had started with a mac, then I wouldn't have all these pc apps that
i would die without, because I know pretty much the same stuff is available
on both.

You can run XP on the new Macs and still use the pc apps you have.
