BTW, FWIW:
Swen, with my help, decided yesterday on a 1968 Fender Silverface Super
Reverb as his main all-purpose amp. It is absolutely mint. It sounds
absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a hand-wired,
point-to-point amp that they SERIOUSLY consider an old Silverface Fender.
There's tons of them out there, and they are easily the best value in real
tube amps today. My Silverface 1972 Twin is my pride and joy, expecially
since our local geetar tech (Yay Steve Hunter!) Blackfaced it for me last
year.
He also sprang for a Nord Stage 88. We like it very much so far, though it
has not been put on the front lines yet in serious session work. Huge Nord
fan here (I have the Lead 2X), and the 88 sounds amazing. For a gig-ready,
all-in-one unit, it's pretty tricked out. I don't care for the onboard
reverb so much , but the three FX channels are very nice. Plus, the Lead and
the 88 are gonna look sweeeeet on a keyboard stand when we play live. I'll
post an update soon.
