OK, I've installed both cards, Windows sees 'em, installed Mike's scherzo.

I've got the two 16-pin cables crossed over in a nice, neat "X". I've got one 10-pin clock cable connected straight across.

I've double-checked to make sure all of the headers are connected to pins.

Every time I start the damn app up it tells me my EDS cards are connected improperly and will cause playback problems.

I haven't done this for two years since I set up the G4 in the mobile rack. I'd open it up and see how I did that, but it's buried inside an SKB rack on a pair of Marathon rails, and that case is at the bottom of my front-room closet. Not an easy task.

What the aitch-ee-double-hockey-sticks am I doing wrong here?

Thank you.

ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH.

Hmmm... your cable connections check out according to the connection diagrams in the manual? Strange. Do the ribbon connectors have any kinks in them that might conceal a broken conductor?

I had to make my own 16-pin - maybe I have a connector on wonky.

As soon as I'm done formatting a pair of 250GB audio drives, I'll pull the cable and check.

WHOOOOO-FREAKIN'-HOOOOO!!!!!!

Had one of the connectors crimped on backwards. Redid the cable, and we have liftoff.

I fired it up, loaded "crop circles" just to see some audio, and hit "play". Damn. I got sound through the monitors.

It's midnight-thirty-five and I have to get up at 6 for work. So, I'm going to start a massive network transfer of Paris project folders over and go the hell to sleep.

At least I feel as if I've actually done something tonight!

Thanks to everyone for the help. I'm sure there will be more questions as I get used to running under XP and with 3.0. I did notice that Paris proudly hangs onto its Mac heritage - you can't "maximize" a window simply by clicking the toolbar. You have to manually size it for the space. I'm used to that - no biggie. Kinda helps with the feelings of homesickness.... Very Happy
