If you are clocking an RME HDSP card from a Paris ADAT card (or in my case
clocking 3 x RME cards from 3 x Paris ADAT cards) and, for convenience sake,
since you want to be able to monitor your HDSP I/O in Wavelab without
launching Paris in order to clock the HDSP cards and you are too f***'in
lazy to make one simple change in a digital patchbay GUI , you decide to
also hook one of the RME cards up directly to a WC feed from your external
clock that is also feeding your 4 x MECs which are then sending this WC sync
from the ADAT modules to the RME interfaces because "since the ADAT modules
are just regenerating the WC that they are receiving from the house clock
this should be the same" you will have loads of fun when both computers
start losing sync, and not only losing sync, but freezing completely,
requiring a hard reboot. Not only will it be fun while it's happening, but
you get the added benefit of having to actually shut down every computer and
digital device in the studio for a little while, then after they have calmed
down a little, start your boot sequence all over. The various devices may
still be pissed off at each other for a while and you may need to try a
couple of times before all of this stuff is willing to shake hands and play
nice.
That's about as simple as I can explain it.

was my duty to stop them before it was too late.......of course
