After three long days and late nights - OK, I confess I was NOT working on my PARIS system every hour of each day! But I was up 'til 5:30 AM the first night and 1 or 2 AM the last two!- I have a working 3 card, 2 MEC system again. Whew! Thanks to everyone who read my scream for help!

About 11 years ago i was DAW shopping. I had some experience with Protools at the time - I had been using Sound Designer II for years by that time and had Protools set up using the SD II card. I guess Logic, Cubase and Nuendo were around as well as a few others, but I was a Mac guy and determined to remain so. I had heard about PARIS from my Mac dealer but didn't take it very seriously until I began reading about a guy named Brian Tankersley, a world-class recording engineer in Nashville who had built a studio around his PARIS system. I discovered a newsgroup full of people who were absolutely NUTS about PARIS. Ultimately my decision was based on a) what I read about PARIS' sound and flexibility and b) the passion and level of informativeness (is that really a word?) and helpfulness of the PARIS newsgroup. Our newsgroup is gone and our ranks have shrunk, but the passion and helpfulness are still here on Kerry's PARIS forum. Pretty amazing. I don't know how much longer I'll be able to continue using this Digital Antique Workstation, but for now I still love the sound and I know it inside and out. I was editing and mixing a project with a die-hard Protools guy and at one point during a quick, tricky little edit he said "OK, I see what you mean! PARIS is quick!" I still use PARIS every day. I own Protools LE w/ a Digi 002 and MOTU Digital Performer but I don't much care for either. If I decide to stay in this crazy business for much longer I will probably have to make a choice to find a new system but I have had a good run with PARIS.

Thanks everybody! Thanks Kerry for keeping our Freak Flag Flying! Happy New Year!

I may not be using PARIS right now but I'm positive it will be brought back into the fold soon...the ease of editing is awesome, the sound is as good our RADAR V rig and quite frankly I love the look and feel of it.

I do miss it
