I'm currently using direct x 4 with 98SE. Works great, but new burn
software wants to install directx 9. Any issues with higher direct x
versions?

If it's woking at dx 4, I wouldn't change it. DX is finicky.

Good luck!

I wouldn't go further than whatever v of DX was out when SE closed. I think
that was 6.x. If you're not ready for W2K or XP, maybe upgrade to ME and
then install 8.b.
