Couldn't find anything this specific in the archives....

I need to format a new Seagate SATA internal drive for audio files on Win
XP.
What is the current preferred method?

I'm just going on memory here, but I'm pretty sure that everyone was using
NTFS on XP operating system drives.

ntfs with 64 for block size.

If you use NTFS, you won't be able to use that drive with any other OS than
XP, FAT32 would be my suggestion unless you know you won't be changing OS's

Hi Martin,
NTFS can be read under current OSX, Linux and with some 3rd party app
even under win 98se.

NTFS is more reliable and "faster" than fat 32 and is required some of
the new large sata drives.

NTFS can be read under OSX, but it can't be written to.

FAT 32 can.

HI TC,

There are a couple 3rd party OSX tools that will let you PC "Macdrive"
equivalent type thing. I think upcoming OSX updates will allow for
read/wrote with the boot camp thing getting more popular it would make
sense.
