Hey all... I'm trying to go from two cards to one... I know which is my "serialized"
card but when I remove the second card I can't launch Paris. I get the error:

"... there are not enough free resources available"

and then:

"... unhandled exception C0000005
At address 0048c425"

not sure what is up... if i replace the second card and the interconnect
cables everything is fine.

the only notes on my site that mention that erro don't appear to be your problem.

Corrupted Default Project 'unhandled exception: c0000005 at address: 00481382'

'Paris has caused an error in Paris.exe'

1. Delete or move the offending default project file out of the Paris
directory.
2. Deinstall Paris.
3. Go to the windows system folder and
a. delete the directory that says Ensoniq if present
b. delete the file Paris_StudioControlLibrary.dll if present
c. Reinstall Paris
4. Start with one card.
5. If necessary, go to plain vanilla sytem, meaning ALL cards removed except
for video and 1-EDS. Once that is working, start adding others one at a
time until all is working.

I am not suspecting your card swapping for the moment because it sounds like
the hardware initialized, but then could not open the default_project.ppj.

This makes me think it was a corrupted ppj file, or other corrupted Paris
components. Hence the above advice.

Some things to make note of:
1. Did Paris work initially with your new advancesys scsi card or did it
stop working immediately after you installed the new card?

2. If you remove the advancesys and put everything else back where it was
before, does it all work fine? (you may need to force a PnP update via your
bios)

Would it be as simple as your default ppj trying to address the removed card
on startup.

I don't have a multiple card sys, so this may be useless(!) but I'm thinking
of any windows (editor, mixer , etc) that might open up for that card from
the default ppj

John...

1) I'm agreeing with you that the PARIS app is probably not corrupt as I
was able to return everything to a working state simply by reconnecting that
second EDS.

2) I don't have any AdvanceSys SCSI card... AGP video card, 2xEDS, 1 UAD
card.

3) I did try removing the UAD card with just the one EDS and it still wouldn't
work.

If I remove the second EDS (keeping EDS and UAD) should I force the BIOS
update? could that be my problem? Not sure how to do that, but I bet I can
find it in the BIOS...

and then to Kerr...

could be! Now that I have both cards in, how do I create a ppj to only look
for one card? I've been away from PARIS for some time so I'm a bit rusty...

thanks!

To create a ppj with only one card, I would think it would be enough to make
sure you only have one submix created (and assigned to the card you're going
to keep), and then if you have any other windows open, they should
automatically be assigned to that submix (and therefore the kept card),
although it might be worth shutting all windows anyway.

I think if you save that as your default ppj, it might do the trick.

if not, you could consider stripping it back further and getting rid of any
patchbay settings, etc.

best of luck,

Kerr

Don't create one. Move the one you have to another folder where Paris can't
find it. IIRC, Paris should complain on the first start up but builds a new
one?

Hey... fixed it!

I tried all sorts of stuff with the PPJ and patch bay configs... ended up
with this:

Years ago I had modified the PARIS executable for a cooler skin. I put back
the original PARIS.exe and it works like a charm!

Thanks for all the help... now I gotta figure out how to get that skin back...
only kidding!
