Ok guys..I have these saved project files I am trying to open and listen to,
but I can't hear squat.
I can create a new project and import an audio file and everything is fine.
I can hear it thru my card.
But I open one of the saved project files and I can see the individual channel
meters LEDs moving, but nothing on the stereo out meters. I have tried configuring
the VST Connections
and they look identical to the newly created project, but no go.
These were created on someone elses computer so I am thinking it is a config
issue, but I cant figure it out. All the tracks and plugs loaded up nicely,
but no SOUND thru the stereo outs.
ANY IDEAS?
Arg!!

Thanks

Maybe the config details of your friends computer are different to yours.
Does he have a different sound card?
If so, the setup info that is transferred to your computer will not match
yours.
Have you selected your soundcard in the VST connections window?

Yes different sound card.
I selected the EMU ASIO driver in the Device Setup/VST Multitrack.
EMU is my new EMU0404 sound card.
In the VST Connections / outputs tab......it only gives
me two options for output. ASIO 1 OUT & ASIO 2 OUT.
In the Input tab it lets me select all 8 of the inputs if I want.(that are
associated with this card).

I got it.
Each individual channel was not assigned a bus!!!!!!!!
Everything that was assigned to a sub bus like an fx bus was set, but the
fx busses were not assigned an output bus and anything that was sent directly
from the channel to the stereo out was not assigned an output.
ARG!!!
Thank you so much for your help!!!!

Not sure there are 8 inputs...2 analogue, (2 Spdif and 2 optical)
either/or.Have you read the setup manual for the card?
Set it for the Cubase settings, From memory here...That's how I remember
initial setting it up, actually, I think there are a few presets setup for
the card in the software.

Hmm...I read all the documentation and I don't recal a preset for Softwares
such as Cubase. I will check again though.
Thanks.
Also, is it possible to send from Cubase with the 0404 by way of lightpipe
into the ADAT module on the MEC or are these different formats? OR would
I have to go out the Spdif's for digital xfers?

THANKS!!!!!!!!
b

Not sure about the lightpipe/optical outs into ADAT, (I'd say they were
different), but I'd be going out SPdif.
As to the Cubase setting...going from memory over 2 years ago..not sure.
I thought there was various software settings though.
I'll check when I get to the studio later today.

I'm in the studio now, and am looking at the session presets, and there are
presets for Cubasis, (same as Cubase) and Wavelab at various sample rate
settings.
Good Luck
Martin

Is that located in the Patchmix software or whatever it is called? Or is there
a different config gui?

Thanks,
b

I was trying to send out the SPDIF 0404 to the SPDIF on the MEC and I got
no signal in PARIS. I didn't try to sync lock the signal and I didn't make
sure everything was on the same sample rate, but it should be. Would the
absence of a sync clock cause the signal not to be recognized? Or should
I have heard something at least with pops and clicks?
In the PatchMix Output config I selected MON for the SPDIF.
I was registering on the Stereo LED output meter of the PatchMIx software.
But when I routed from the DL and RL on the MEC to a pair of channels and
record enabled them I got nothing for sound.
Does this sound right.
I was using a brand new Monster SDPIF RCA cable.

Thanks
