Hi my Paris buddys!

Does this work: Two eds cards and each one is connected to an interface 442 and I try to record all 8 inputs?
Or does Paris refuse to work with two 442s for any reason?

Thanks!

I've never owned a 442, but the manual seems to indicate that should be completely fine. I don't think you can record the inputs of both 442s into one submix simultaneously, you'd record eight tracks simultaneously by recording four tracks into one submix and four into another (but that's just me guessing based on what I've read).

Actually, I'd wonder if you could record twelve tracks simultaneously by taking advantage of the SP/DIF ins of both 442s too (I can do it with the MEC). All you'd need is external A/D convertors - if you need extra inputs and one of the sources you're recording is eg. a keyboard, guitar POD or preamp with SP/DIF out, just use SP/DIF instead of using up analog ins. I can't recall for sure, but if memory serves, I might once have actually used a DAT machine in "record pause" when I was pinched for an extra pair of inputs.

2 442s is fine but you'll need to connect word clock out of 442(1) to word clock in of 442(2) and make sure sync is set to internal ...unless you're running a external word clock (the UseHouseSync=1 int he paris.cfg).

Can actually do up to 8 channels per 442 if you have 2 Interface2's (6 analog 2 digital channels per). Just remember you're only getting 16 bits off the if/2's (was it 16 or 20 off the 442's? it's been a while).
