I just loaded a Powercore MK1 in my Magma chassis that is holding my 4 x
UAD-1 cards. It's a 13 slot model (the newer PT branded one with the round
cables for the host cards). these can be purchased for around $300.00 on
EBay these days.

Cards are ordered as follows:

Slot 1-UAD-1 ` IRQ 19
Slot 2-Powercore Mk1 IRQ 18
Slot 3- open
Slot 4-open
Slot 5-UAD-1 IRQ 19
Slot 6-open
Slot 7-UAD-1 IRQ 19
Slot 8-open
Slot 9-open
Slot 10-open
Slot 11-UAD-1 IRQ 19
Slot 12 open
Slot 13-open

The host card of this magma is in PCI slot 2 of my mobo (gigabyte GA-K8NS
Ultra 939)

I have decided to lose the idea of running two computers synced via
Systemlink when tracking (just a little too iffy for my taste) and have
moved one of my Multiface units to the DAW with the MADI and AES 32 card.

The MADI card is in Slot 1, the AES 32 card is in Slot 5 and the Multiface
PCI is in slot 7. No other cards in this chassis, the host card is in PCI #4
of the mobo and all cards are sharing IRQ 19.

So far it's been very stable. This will give me 24 analog I/O, 24 ADAT
inputs to stream audio from my slave DAW, 8 x stereo pair of AES I/O for my
outboard processors and some other AES I/O options should I need them.

I need to replace the other Multiface that I had in the slave DAW with a
9652. If anyone out there has an HDSP 9652 and wants to talk about a swap
for a Multiface, I'm game.

9652 rocks ! what a great card. it's so amazing to have a full band playing
for days on end and not have any crashes. it's really like making music.
what an odd feeling for me.

DJ :interesting, no issues between UAD and powercore? interesting. that is
exactly what I want to do,retire the dual opteron machine and switch over to
the Intel dual core while the 45nm dual quad core issues get ironed out.
thanks for testing that scenario DJ

None so far. I've got about half the resources of the POCO being used along
with about 60% of 4 x UAD-1's in a 20 track mix right now with no glitches
whatsoever. Keep in mind that this is the older Mk1 PCI card and it is
riding an IRQ that is not shared by any other device in the computer. It's
nice having this to supplement/complement the UAD-1 processors. I think the
TC FX are pretty darned good. Very different from the UA, but that's OK.
I've got plenty of UAD-1 processors.

The Megareverb is easily the equivalent to the processors in my TC M2000. I
could probably get by on this and the UAD-1 Plate reverb and sell all my
outboard rack units in a pinch.

I'm getting lazier and lazier as time goes on about using outboard gear in
mixes. Plugins are really getting good these days (or maybe I'm just so used
to hearing them that I've finally accepted their sound).

Hard to say.

Things are pretty sweet with the Multiface and the MADI. This gives me 24
RME AD/DA's, with 24 ADAT inputs for incoming VSTi's and a couple of extra
left over.

I'm finally feeling like I'm getting where I need to be with this system.

That'd make it about time for another upgrade, wouldn't it?

they both have something to offer .definitely worth having both. the MD-3
and dynamic eq are top shelf on the TC side, then again all the uad-1 plugs
are 32 bit float.I wouldn't want to choose one or the other.

He's going to send me an old POCO he's got lying around there and we're
gonna' try for a second Powercore in the Magma. 2 x POCOs and 4 xUAD-1's on
a DAW. that sounds like fun, duddn't it?
