I got Paris MIDI working!! Thanks Deej and Louis! [message #70123]

Deej just clued me on to this, which I think I did glance at at the time
(now that I see it), but had long since forgotten to go back and take a look
at...

It's a tutorial on how to do MIDI.

It only took a couple of minutes to import a MIDI track and get it playing...

....though for some reason Paris has no MIDI inputs for me here, so I can't
record...

....hmm...

It does look like it might come in handy though, for what limited MIDI requirements
I have.

Who'd a thunk it? ;o)

It's so wierd talking on the phone to someone who is living 12 hours into
the future. I kept wanting to ask you questiions about winning lotto

Just been fiddling...

....no, not that kind of fiddling...

....and it seems after some playing around and some NG research that there
is a bug in Paris MIDI (who'd a thunkit?) where if you have an input and
an output with the same name they don't appear.

There's a suggestion that you can rename them if in Windows, though I think
it's talking 98/ME...

I miaght not be able to do inputs without buying a new MIDI device...

That's a well known bug, Kim, one that stuffed a lot of users when V3 came
out.
I think it was even a deal breaker for more than a few people.
I remember that I tried renaming them when V3 came out, but it didn't work,
from memory.

You're welcome Kim. Man, I almost forgot I even wrote that. That was a
long time ago in a far away place!!!!

I don't use Paris for Midi though, and after all that trouble to get it working!
I use Performer, slaved to Paris for all my work. Works great for what
I need to do.
