graphics geforce agp8x
2 eds cards
2mec
2- 8 in cards located in master mec
1- 8 out located in master mec
using 2 monitors
3 harddrives system drive is ntfs, other audio only fat32
I swap over to xp with the purchase of this computer about a year ago. THe
only real problems that I was having was the control 16 for submix b would
not undo from the controller unless I would undo from the editor first and
then the undo light would come on and I could continue, no big deal. THe
other problem was that I would open a

to reinstall xp pro edition and as you guessed no help there. Now when I
launch paris and close it and turn the computer back on I am seeing the micrsoft
has encountered serious problem would you like to send this. So that is about
it. I have quite a few session to do and three or four prj to mix and I
am in trouble. I certainly appreciate you all and the news group. I don't
post much at all, but what would we do without having the newsgroup.

Use only NTFS throughout... avoid FAT32 on XP (personal nightmare
here). Which build of XP are you using? How large is your PSU in the
computer?

Some functions on the C16 do not operate correctly unless that C16 had
been selected as default last. Typically, only the faders and channel
select/mute buttons remain with the subgroup selected. All other
functions on the C16's control the last submix selected.

There is an unusual amount of wait time for the software to boot under
XP, the more hardware you have, the longer the wait. Our system here
takes almost 90 Sec to settle down on loading a project. This is

Here in the US it has been on public TV recently. Dang, those guys
can still do it. They look like hell, but man they are playing great.
I never realized how truly impressive Jack Bruce's bass playing was
years ago. During solos, he actually brings them close to great
jazz with these amazing bass parts.
I really enjoyed that show. Hope you got to see it.

was freaked out by the "almost real" characters. -and not in a good way.
I think the obvious answer is, who hasn't heard a crappy sampled
snare/hi-hat, etc. It makes you cringe because you know the sample isn't

I suggest Behringer's old SRC-2000 dejitter,converter unit that has wordclock
input so you can put the digital signal first into that device and have it
reclock to desired 44.1khz and then take its spdif to Paris.
Another nice addition is Soundpals ADAT3 and 4.
This is a AES/EBU to ADAT converter with wordclock in out.
I picked both at ebay at a very very nice price.
So I can take the AES out of my DBX 376 the AES of AES 386 and the AES of
SRC-2000 that accepts a great self made crystal AD converter of 120 db
dynamic range ! spdif's out and sends all these aes/ebu signals to ADAT and
inside Paris.
Note that Soundpal's Adat4 is a ADAT to AES converter and both are 20 bits
!!
I guess these have been made for Paris adat cards !

I don't think there's any way to know how much I lose for not
having PT. I sometimes wonder how much business I lose for
not having a Steinway too (I have a Baldwin...). I do, in fact,
have PT LE w/ a Digi 002. When people ask, I tell them that I
have Protools and Digital Performer, but I usually use Paris
because it sounds better.
Maybe business is just off in general. I've actually been taking
some courses in video production and engineering. Could be
time for a career change!
