A dual socket server mobo running dualcore CPU's will not allow square pegs
to be hammered into round holes......picky, picky, picky as far as what
can/can't be used. I just got off the phone with Tyan tech support. I glad I
called them. I would suggest that anyone who is contemplating going down
this road do their homework and be especially careful of matching things
like CPU revisions......this is absolutely necessary........two AMD Opteron
Socket "F" CPU's can have the *exact* same specifications but if they are
different revisions, they will not work in a dual socket (Tyan) at least)
mobo. If you are shopping for CPU's on EBay and see a pair of similar CPU's
advertized for about 1/2 the price that a single one would list for as a
place like Newegg, they will likely be different revisions of the same chip
and will not work together in a dual socket mobo. Here's an example of what
I'm talking about:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Two-new-oem-2218-opteron-socket-F-proces sers_W0QQitemZ230129132618QQihZ013QQcategoryZ80142QQrdZ1QQcm dZViewItem

Normally, just one of these CPU's would cost about $550.00.

Notice at the bottom under specifications that the mfg part numbers are
different (OSA2218CQWOF, OSA2218GAA6CQ)

Now going to AMD's website you will come up with:
http://www.amdcompare.com/us-en/opteron/details.aspx?opn=OSA 2218CQWOF

and:
http://www.amdcompare.com/us-en/opteron/details.aspx?opn=OSA 2218GAA6CQ

Exact same specs but these will not operate properly in a dual socket mobo
according to Tyan tech support.

Just a heads up for those of you who may be contemplating a jump to a server
based native DAW. If I didn't have the compulsion to seek out the most
painful and frustrating experiences that humans could possibly endure, Chris
Ludwig would be building this box for me.
