More troubling is that if they can do that, you can bet they're working hard
on going "OK, well, if we know what makes a hit through mathematics, then
surely we can make them..."

....bye bye songwriter...

Cheers,
Kim.

My guess is that Nickelback would get the same exact rating on the range of
hits so far

I have no doubt that songwriting of major pop music will be essentially a
computer affair within 50 years, and probably a lot less. I mean, how far
is Desmond Child from a computer as it is? Computers are awfully close to
being able to beat any human in chess right now, and there is no endeavor
on earth that involves predicting what an opponent will prefer more than
that game. Writing a hit for Fergie should be a lot easier than beating Gary
Kasparov.

But I don't listen to that stuff anyway, and I promise that no computer will
every write the song my band is working on right now called 'Jimmy Carter
Saves the Day' and it's about Jimmy Carter going around his native region
handing out Viagra.

And the South, and the South, and the South will rise again

Well, hasn't pop music been "paint by numbers" for decades? Seems like it
was only a matter of time before they used computers instead of A&R men to
make sure music fans aren't exposed to any dangerous originality.
