Hi,
On my primary controller I have a harddisk capable of udma5 and a dvd recorder
asus new one latest technolgy that supports double layer and records up to
x16.
XP sees though the dvd recorder only in pio mode !
while the harddisk is seen as uldma 5.
So now the harddisk which has the xp installation runs also at pio mode !!
Any cure ?
When I tried to uninstall /install the master controller drivers it was a
no no go procedure, always an error when trying to load drivers.
So I had to recover from Ghost image.
DVD recorder has the latest bios installed.
I am stuck...
Thanks
Dimitrios
ps: My email address is : musurgio@otenet.gr

Dimitrios,

I had this problem once and I think it was solved by making the DVD drive
the master IDE device on the IDE2 controller on the mobo. Some optical
drives don't like being the slave device, even though the option is
available.

It drove me crazy Dimitrios. I found the solution totally by accident. Glad
it worked for you too.
