Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news , but you have 2 isues..ANd they
are:
-Mac ibook..Very bad on-board usb and firewire support
-m-audio fast track ..Look, M-audio maks some of thee best Windows drivers..Can't
say that about it's Mac driver support
Solution: Seel the imac, and get a Mac Book pro..NOt and Mac Book, but the
Mac Book Pro...2) Use either a Motu or RMe interface.. They both have the
best driver support for the Mac platform..

Just a thought: on my PC, if I leave Cubase 4 open over night, the next
day, it plays, but crackles until I do a restart of C4.

I second what LaMont says. I recently helped a friend try to configure a
Digi002 on a Macbook. Lots of problems with the FW bus choking down. He
finally sold the Macbook and got a new iMac and he is once again blissful.

Thanks everyone.
I was talking up this group and encouraging my friend to start checking it
out. I tried out the buffer suggestion and that seemed to fix the
problem -though I agree with Neil's thought: it sure seems funny that they
were appearing with only one track. I've noticed that her setup is
flukey -so we'll see. For now she'll probably stick with the iBook -though
she did go for a (evil) melodyne purchase. I'm hoping that once she starts
flying along recording, mixing, she'll consider a 'puter upgrade.
You gents are awesome, thanks again.

I have two old iBooks, a 1GHz and a 600MHz. They are not real fast, but I
have not had any problems running my M-Audio USB interfaces. Keep in mind,
the USB is version 1.x. I'm not running Cubase, so...YMMV.
