Merry Christmas to you too, Martin.
When we're talkin about "overdubs" on Beatles records, I can say, the first
single they recorded(11.Sept '62), "Love me do/P.S. I love you", the
drummers name was Andy White. Ringo was temporarily demoted to play
tambourine on "Love me do" and Maracas on "P.S. I love you". There is also
an "original" version (on "Past Masters Volume one") with Ringo on the drums
on "Love me do", recorded 4. September 1962. All the others, as I have
understand from the book following their whole CD collection "The Beatles
Box", have Ringo on drums.

You are indeed right, but they weren't overdubs but retakes..different
animals.
