Despite that little scare we had where everything became unstable for a bit,
it seems now that the UPS is holding out.
There's definately something screwy with the power in these parts though.
This morning for example the UPS was beeping, complaining that it had no
mains power supply. Mind you my DVD burner was sitting there operating without
issue, as was my stereo amp. I can only assume we dropped down in voltage
by 10% or something... enough to upset the UPS into taking over, but still
enough mains to supply most appliances. It only did it for around a minute
then came good.
In any case there seems to be no immediate need to buy a new one. The router
has crashed a couple of times, and I'll need to upgrade the firmware soon
to fix that. The lates firmware (which I'm not yet running) seems good, but
I'm waiting for the next bugfix release before I jump on board with that
one though, as firmware upgrades mean a bit of stuffing around. Once I do
the next upgrade I want things to work without issue for several years.
It seems this pocket of the internet is running ok though for the moment...
...which reminds... should do a backup.
