In an earlier thread, the new plugins from ID were hi-lighted. In this thread on GearSlutz, one of the designers introduces them and references ID.

I don't know what a baptism of fire consists of. But things started in the spirit of gentle ribbings between old acquaintances can get out of hand quickly when they're conducted in a public place, so it's not something I'd encourage - either personally or in my capacity as admin here.

oh good lord kerry, i think if there were anybody who could care less what id does it would be this group. and besides the one who brought the biggest attitude sadly has passed. the biggest shame is that paris is dead in the eyes of it's creators.

Uncle rick. Why do you think that ID would forget about Paris when they actually had a native version working before Stephen passed?

Well observed.

Anyone else think that's an awful lot of website for three plugins?

deej,

why? cuz the first generation owners aren't dead yet. i myself would love to see paris up and running again; you can even leave out midi. just fix the bugs and smooth out a couple of things and life would be great. i'd rather be on paris than any other app for recording...call me old fashioned.

kerry,
as to the size of the website...i don't understand the correlation. there are so many sites out there that have page after page of nothing that add...nothing but size.

I'm there with you. I do very little midi here.

Is this really true, or was it just another line that ID pushed to keep stringing us along? Like all the updates that were promised 'soon'. Did anyone actually see this native version functioning (at a trade show perhaps)?

Cheers

Yes. A Parisite that I know who was a personal friend of SSC has seen it functioning on his Mac laptop. According to this party, when asked about the ability of the native system to recreate the "big" that the Paris system is known for, SSC stated that the Paris sound was a function of the software.

This wouldn't surprise me, we must remember ID made their bread and butter by developing software whose algorithms isolated and enhanced specific frequencies.

This goes against all previous speculation and I think there is quite a bit of credibility to Chuck's findings years ago relative to the way the ESP2 chip handles the saturation math, but it sure would be nice if a native DAW were to emerge that could provide the headroom and clarity at the sum that Paris can.

If a native audio app is released by ID, whatever name it may be given, I'll certainly be in line to give it a go.

I wasn't trying to question Chuck's findings. Just reminding of ID's specialty. Smile
