Same here, I'll hold off until the bugfix. Are you on a dual G5 PPC as well? I hear it actually works, but you have to have at least 10.5. something - maybe .5 or .7.

yes and as luck would have it i have the model with the potentially leaking cooling system. it's a good thing my first mac put me out of business so it's not used a whole lot so this may not happen to me. i'll be installing 10.5 as soon as a friend is done redoing his macs. i'll be curious to see how reaper function under leopards paw.

Oh, you went for the "Leaky Cooling System" version; I opted for the "You Will Eventually Discover You Have A Poorly Grounded PSU That Leaks Noise Into Your Audio Chain" model myself (I love a challenge).

Having said that - I found a tech notice saying that a limited range of G5 serial numbers had faulty PSUs and were covered by a PSU exchange policy. My serial was in the range; the tech notice was a few years old, but I figured "what the heck?" and called Apple anyway.

To my surprise, after some conversation they said "It's an undated offer, so Apple will still cover it - but you'd better hurry because your computer goes obsolete this Friday and won't be covered after that :D". So I hurried it down to the Apple store and they replaced the PSU free of charge. Point to Apple.

I'm also having enormous fun with my PC nowadays too, so there's good and bad to be said about both of them.

Now I just mutter "computers" occasionally, followed by turning my head and spitting.

why can't the zealots ever get the crap ones??? yeah there's a lot of discussion about mine and apparently has been out there for years and apples initial reaction to a new "hey i'm leaking call" is that no such problem exists...what a surprize. they've even quoted people repair costs of upto $3800.00 for a $2400.00 computer...now that's balls. Very Happy

and you are absolutely right..."computer"
