I'm looking for a dead EDS card and any dead MEC cards. I want to use my hot air rework station and remove all the parts from the circuit board(s) and reverse engineer all of the schematics, but I don't want to destroy any working boards.

If you've got any PARIS gear that doesn't work, I'll pay shipping in the US...

LOL! I'm too big and slow to be devious! (Or maybe I'm just being recursive...?) Laughing

One goal is to make an EDS replacement with the ESP2 chips implemented in an FPGA...

OK, I'm impatient, and I realized that I have ten of them, so I decided to sacrifice one of my EDS cards to the cause. I've saved the ESP2 chips, and everything else came off easily too. I can either try to rebuild the card later, or maybe I'll go back into the repair business... Smile

I also found the old ADAT board that I had already stripped, along with all of my notes about it.

Still hoping to get dead 8in and 8out cards that I can strip down.

Anybody? Buehler? Buehler?

Too late, but I just remembered I have a dead EDS card here. If you want it, I'll send it to you.

Can't sacrifice any of the in/out cards though...

Ted

That's great, if I have another card to disassemble, then I can be brave about peeling back layers and such. And if it's something obvious that's wrong with your card, I'll fix it and send it back to you...

I'll PM my address, let me know how much shipping is and what your paypal address is...

Man, you gotta love 2014. Half of what you're saying would't have been intelligible, let alone feasible, in PARIS' heyday.

Well, since I don't have much useful to contribute, have a joke instead Very Happy

Oy vey, the light was on! Sheesh! LOL!

Did I ever mention that I had called Ensoniq when I was in school and asked them what I needed to study to get a job with them? The answer was "ASIC design" so I was learning Verilog, and that's what I'm using now.

In my wildest dreams, I would find the original HDL code Ensoniq used to create the ESP chips and use it, but instead of fabbing chips, I'd stick with FPGA prototyping.

If anyone else is silly enough to want to follow me on this path, I'd suggest looking at the Papilio Pro board. It's a great way to get started with digital design. There are several useful books like "Digital Design and Computer Architecture" and "Advanced Chip Design" along with a lot of free stuff from people like Hamster and Free Range Factory...

Hi Doug
I've got a mec main board I can sacrifice and an Adat card I have some issues with. Let me know if you want these and I will send them.
Also, don't know if you can repair the adat modules but if you can, let me know?
I have one that works but gets intermittent pops on the output side. I've tried replacing the transmitter and receiver but that didn't help.
Thanks
Kurt

Hiya Kurt,

I don't have time to do repairs for anyone anymore, but whenever I hear that someone is having intermittent pops, the first thing I think of is a clocking issue...

Thanks for the hardware offer, I took apart one of my MECs and I have a couple dead ADAT boards myself....

Regards,
Doug
