This one might bring me back to using Waves. I'm hoping to give it a test
drive in the next couple of weeks.

It better sound totally amazing if it costs what I expect it will. I'm still
pissed at them for wanting $250 to upgrade my Renaiissance Plugs from win 98
to XP (which I never did).

Is $800.00 ridiculous enough for you. I never upgraded my NPPII for the same
reason you didn't. UAD-1 blew them out of the water anyway (IMO)

True. I never upgraded my NPP Gold for the same reason - $250 is steep just
to get a new version number in the info screen (that was just to go from 3.x
to 4.0 on WinXP). The SSL 4000 is $600 street, so that's $200 less
ridiculous, and if they are really amazing, it might be worth it for some.

That said, UA has Neves on the way. Pretty cool. It will be interesting to
see where their prices fall - I'm guessing $250 for the 1073.

Same here..I still have that parallel port driver dongle :) If it wa not for
the studio I work in, which purchased the full WUP, I would've not been current
on wave plugs. That being said, I still love the Ren Comp.

The 600 price point sound great. I've heard the online demo, and i can attest
that, by the sound of the demo presentation, they've nailed the SSL 4000..
We have one(SSL 4000 Gplus) in our A room, with E Series Channel strips..The
plugs behaved pretty much like the board, minus the noise :)

Let's face it, Waves had to step it up, or they were going down inthe dust.
With UAD, McDSp(My Favorite), URS, Sony Oxford, as well as many , smaller
named companies like SIR, Audioease, Voxengo, sonilakis, PSP..I coan on and
on.. Waves had to pull a rabbit(out of you know where:) to stay in the game..
well, game on..
