Hi guys

Got a four / five song, live off the rehearsal stage audio-video gig coming up.

Instrumentation is:

two acoustic guitars and vocals

Percussion - electronic kik / real snare / congas / ride cymbal and vocal

Bass - DI (and amp only if required)

the stage is 20 X40, the band will be using in ear monitoring and we have all the mics we need except for two to record the acoustics (we will be DI-ing them too)

So the question is what type of mic would you use to record the acoustics and if possible some recommendations...this is mainly to reduce the bleed from the kit (but were looking at a plexiglass gobo just in case but not confirmed)

I have access to wide variety of mics, i.e. 57's to KM84's and just about everything in between so throw out your suggestions

Don

I've used Shure KSM32s on acoustic in conjunction with the DIs and they've worked well. They can get a little muddy unless you turn them off axis a bit, and don't get too near the sound hole. I've also used the AKG414 on acoustic guitar in omni mode, and it was very nice, however omni would be a train wreck in a live set up I suppose.
