Hi All,

I just tried installing Paris on my new computer and I'm getting an error
that says "Paris.exe is not a valid Win32 application". Here are the specs
on my computer:

AMD Atholon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+
2.21 GHz
2.00 GB of RAM
Window XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2

I first put the EDS card in the computer. Next, I downloaded and installed
the XP drivers version 3.03. I rebooted the computer when prompted. I then
downloaded and installed the Paris application (version 2.20) from the EMU
site. I rebooted the computer. I then installed the Paris XP Effects
Subsystem and rebooted. When I try to run Paris.exe, I get the "Paris.exe is
not a valid Win32 application" error message.

I would deeply appreciate any help/comments/suggestions on this.

Thanks,

Mike

I am pretty sure it's the X2 Chip biting you in the butt... DJ is
going to be doing some experimenting with dual core here shortly, stay
tuned.

Hey Mike, I'm a Win98 user, but there are some very specific detail you need
to follow when using XP. I'm certain others with more knowledge will chime
in, but in the mean time, check these sites out for info.

As far as I know, Paris version 3 is the only version that will work
on XP. The effects subsystem installer actually messes with the V3 exe code.
I may be wrong.

Sorry, I should have said that the effects subsystem fix messes
with the Paris 3 installation, *not* the exe.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. I think I may just reinstall Paris in my
old Window 98 computer for now, which definitely worked.

2.2 works also. It was never officially supported but it works.

I think the effects subsystem installer only plays with some DLL's...

Cheers,
Kim.

2.2 works just fine. The effects drop down chooser menu, however, does not
allow for all the skunkworks plugs you can put in these days. They just
"don't show up" in the menu after a certain amount installed. Sorry I can't
remember the exact number.
