Hi all,
I've opted to revert back to Paris on a Mac in order to retrieve a few past projects that I'd like to rework.
The old Mac was kaput, so I've bought a G4 (Quicksilver 2002) & formatted the drive & installed OS-9.2.2 (came with OSX).

Then something I wasn't expecting happened - it wouldn't recognize the Paris software CD!! Shocked Whenever I try to run the CD, I get either a "Prepare for Burning" alert, or it just spits the CD back out!

The CD Rom seems to work OK (I installed OS-9 from a disk), so why would this be happening? I'm using my original Paris V3 disk which is for PC or Mac.
Is there some sort of extension I'm supposed to install to have it recognize certain CDs? It was over 10 years ago that I last set Paris up on the old Mac with OS9, so my memory of settings is a bit stretched...(lol).
Embarassed

Can't remember if you need the Joliet Volume Extension (or one of a number of system-installed extensions) - I don't think so, but the OS9 installer is still served via the parisfaqs link in the header if you have any problems. Good luck!

Thanks for that Kerry; all sorted!! Laughing I forgot about the direct downloads on that page; downloaded V3 for Mac, installed it & it fired straight up!! Listening to some old recordings from about 10 years ago as I write this!
Cool

I hate to think where I'd be without this forum; you guys have made life so much easier!!

Hi again all; yep, more turmoil in the street of Paris...(lol)

It's partially my fault this time, by being a bit slack. Embarassed I got Paris up & running on the Mac, & just ran it in demo until I got the authorization code from ID. I probably took a bit too long to request it from them; when I finally got it, I didn't have a chance to fire the Mac up for a few days. By the time I did, Paris had expired.

Come hell or high water, I cannot get this code to work!! I was assuming that it must have been because Paris had expired, so I uninstalled it & downloaded the software again (the G4 still won't recognize my original Paris-3 disk). Same thing happened; when I tried to run it, it came up with the expiry alert; so it was obviously still recognizing the fresh download as the same copy of Paris.
Confused

Will Paris refuse to accept the code if it actually expires, or have a got a dud code? I've emailed ID twice about it now, but have received no response as of yet.

Cheers.

Stop Press; mystery solved!! Very Happy

Just heard back from ID; it looks like they must have checked my files & saw that my first request was for a PC; they sent me the code for the PC version of Paris! The reason I hadn't heard from them was because it had them stumped & they were trying to work on a solution.

Have the Mac code now; will load it in when I get home from work. All is right in the World!..
