I'm wondering if the MEC S/Pdif I/O will interface/sync with an AES device
using XLR>BNC adapters. anyone ever done this? If so, tdid it work both way
(input and output?)

Thanks,

Deej

I think there is a format (signalling) change necessary in between. I
have a midiman CO3 that will do the conversion, but only one way at a
time (switchable). I assume your talking sample sync, which I believe
this device passes.

DJ:

I did this exact thing for 4 years while using Paris for music / audio
post at the TV station. I had no problems with audio data in either
direction.

As I understand it, on short cable runs this should work. There is an
impedance mismatch doing it this way, and I think that the S/PDIF spec has
certain copy protect things in it (more of a consumer deal there) that the
AES/EBU will allow to pass or be state modified with the correct circuits.

Layman's? Yeah, it works just keep the cables short as possible.
