I've seen bad phantom power supplies do that. Could be a shorted XLR cable
(jamming the phantom power to ground/low voltage) causing it to drop out as
well, different problem/same effect. As well, I had a CAD condensor that
does that when you hit it hard with sound, probably lousy design on that
one... not likely on a C1, but worth mentioning.
Trouble shoot it down to the last variable using known good replacement
equipment, and you'll find your culprit I bet.
